Weekly Update 5/17/09

Greetings!

Congratulations to
Glenn Mehrbach and Band A on a great performance yesterday at Artsplosure. After a threatening start caused by two downpours the clouds parted and the sun came out just in time for the group to represent our school very well at this great event.

We hope that everyone turns out on
Thursday to listen to both bands perform at Broad Street Cafe. Our slot is 5-6:30 PM - bring some friends, order some pizza and make a night of it!

We need everyone to please return the two forms that were mailed home - the graduation rehearsal schedule and the senior reception RSVP.

All Middle and Upper School students have been provided
exam review sheets in each subject area. Please be sure to review this info with your student.

Parent Simone Degan has once again taken wonderful pictures of many of our Camelot events. Check out the pictures on his website:

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Health-e-lunch will NOT be delivering on Fridays this month.

Spring has sprung - and it is time to revisit the school
dress code for students in grades K-12 - please remember no flip flops, open toed sandals are not playground appropriate, skirts and shorts must be long enough to provide cover even when bending....”no undies showing!” Thanks to everyone for helping to note what clothes have been outgrown since the weather was last warm and balmy.

Summer Reading lists are going home this week with rising 3rd-12th graders. Please return with a parent signature. This info will also be posted on our school web site.

The AP Government Exam is tomorrow (Monday) morning at the Hayti Center. Students are to arrive between 8:15 and 8:30 AM and report upstairs to Classroom #2. Students should bring pens (blue or black ink) and pencils (#2), a watch, and they may bring a snack or drink to have during the break. Any cell phones will need to be collected during the test. Pick up should be at noon at which time students are dismissed for the day.

Friday is the Upper School Semiformal Dance to be held at Lyon Park Rec Center from 8-11 PM. Dance guidelines and permission forms are on the web site and on the office door. Parents who wish to attend are welcome. Several teachers will be acting as chaperones.

Edu-Camp update: the weeks of July 20, July 27 and August 3 are almost full.
Summer School update: Durham Public Schools has decided NOT to run summer school this year due to budget constraints. Have a great week!

Best,
