Congratulations to senior Caroline Pless on her acceptance to Warren Wilson College. Also, congratulations to senior David Hillsman on his acceptance to King College with a $36,000 scholarship. Further Kudos to senior Camille Leeds on being awarded a Leadership Scholarship from High Point University. Way to go, Class of ‘08!

Great job, Mathcounts Team! Our young math wizards turned in a strong debut performance at the regional competition held in Raleigh yesterday.
Go Knights! We're hoping for a big school turn out at the All Star League Showcase this Saturday, March 1. The evening will feature several of our players and we know from past experience that the League schools will all have a fan base present. Here's the schedule:
6:15 Hot Shot competition- "starring" Terran and Xavier
6:45 Coaches Shootout- yeah- Matt and Greg
7:00 3pt shootout- "starring" David Hillsman
7:30 Boys All-Star Game "starring" Zewek and Michael
8:15 Awards Ceremony..... we have 3 athletes (Zewek, Terran, Michael) nominated for the all-conference team
Other items of note:
Wednesday is Spirit Day. Our theme is Sports Day - dress like your favorite sports icon or representing your favorite sport. Hats allowed on this day.
Thursday - yearbook club will launch with art teacher Heather Cramer. Open to students 7th grade and up and billed based on attendance. 3:30 - 4:30 PM. Students will learn to operate the In Design software as well as do hand collage work in the layout of this annual masterpiece. Artistic and computer types needed!

Supplies Needed:
Kindergarten is still in need of seed and plant catalogs. Please give to Miss Beth.
Art classes are in need of the following: - Collection box in Big Hall
Baby food jars with lids, plastic margarine tubs, large old T-shirts for smocks, old towels.
For paper mache projects:
Used light bulbs – all sizes, Cardboard tubes, Small cardboard boxes (jewelry size to shoebox size)
Collect little objects for “Texture Panels” – clear out your “junk drawer.” Keys, buttons, old glasses, tiny dolls or animals, knobs, big screws, little door knobs, combs, costume jewelry, chains … anything small that can be glued to a board. We will create a design with these and then spray paint the whole thing white.
Edu-Camp and Summer School are filling at a record pace! If your student plans to attend either of these summer programs please see the office or our website for registration materials.

Greetings!
Thank you to everyone for the greatly productive spring conferences. Also, thanks for the feedback supplied on the parent survey forms. If you have not yet turned your survey form in PLEASE DO on Tuesday so that I can review and summarize all of your input.
Please check out the great bulletin board that art teacher Heather Cramer put up in the stairwell. It is a lovely preview of things to come as our students explore their artistic self-expression.

Kudos Camelot Knights on the victory versus Woods Charter School on Friday. (40 - 33)

Lunch orders will go home this Tuesday for return on Wednesday.
The Kindergarten Class is requesting the donation of your spring seed and flower catalogs. Please pass along to Miss Beth for incorporation into a project the class will be doing in early March.

Weekly Update 2/3/08
Greetings!
Congratulations to senior David Hillsman on his acceptance to Guilford College with a $48,000 Presidential Award.
Thank you to all of our families for the great turnout at the Pie Supper...and thanks for the great cooking, as well!
The list of Module 6 Honor Roll and Merit Award students will be sent in a separate email this week.
Remember to sign up for your after school clubs of choice! The “official” club kickoff is this week!
We are thrilled to welcome Glenn Mehrbach (web site www.pizzadreams.com) as our Jazz Group instructor, Heather Cramer as our art instructor and Susie Kless as our drama instructor. In addition, the new semester brings with it many other schedule enhancements - Dan Hill is conducting a rock band, Celia Battle has expanded her Spanish instruction to include the Lower School classrooms, Paige Passavant has added the kindergarten class to her computer instruction and has added health classes for the 7th/8th graders and Spanish I has been divided into two groups, allowing for an advanced curriculum for our eager and able students! In addition, Upper School students have just embarked on a new set of Seventh Period elective classes. We are pleased and proud to be able to introduce so many programs in response to the talents and interests of our student body.
Next week (February 14 and 15) are family conferences. Lower School and Middle Grades families should sign up for a conference on the calendar posted on the classroom doors. Upper School students with whom the school requests a conference have already been contacted. If you were not contacted but would like a conference, please see Wendy. Please note that SCHOOL IS CLOSED on both of these days - Optional Care if available for Lower School students by advance registration.
