Greetings!
The Class of ‘09 will be the subject of ongoing announcements over the next few months....starting with CONGRATULATIONS to Jonathan Monroe who has been accepted to Manhattan Marymount College with a $24,000 academic merit scholarship!
Parents of underclassmen of all ages should mark their calendars for Saturday, January 10th at 2:30 PM. As part of our Open House open to the public (which is also a great way for our own families to check out other divisions of our school) we will be running a session detailing Camelot’s strategic college/career guidance program. Never has it been more important for students to find, select and be accepted to the college that is the right fit for them. Camelot students typically graduate prepared to enter college with many dual enrollment college credits already under their belts and with outstanding merit award offers to attend colleges. Please join me to learn more about our comprehensive and strategic guidance program - truly one of the “jewels” of Camelot.
Check out our website for pictures of the Middle Grades Sound to Sea trip.

Middle Grades students have exams - Monday-Thursday
Thursday is the deadline to order pizza for January!
Friday at 2:30 both bands will perform for the student body (parents may drop in). They will share the holiday tunes that they will be performing at Northgate Mall on Saturday at 2 PM. PLEASE COME TO THE MALL TO SUPPORT OUR BAND AND OUR SCHOOL!
Monday, January 5th is the tuition due date for many families on the early-re enrollment plan. PLEASE NOTE THAT SCHOOL IS CLOSED ON THIS DAY. Please see the letter sent home from Wendy to make arrangements.

Weekly Update 12/7/08
Greetings!
Congratulations to eighth grader Liz Reeder who was our top scorer on the American Mathematics Competition for grades 6 to 8! Liz earned a mark of Distinction, meaning that she ranked in the highest scoring group nationally. Second place in our school was shared by seventh graders Elisabeth Parker and Brian Powell, and third place winners were Megan Rusconi-Warner, Josh Stallings, and Aaron Daniels Freeman. Aaron Daniels Freeman and Alex Berro earned Merit awards, indicating that they were among the top scorers in the sixth grade. We had great participation with 11 students competing, and all deserve a round of hearty applause!
Kudos to Module 4 Merit Award recipients: Toyin Tosh, Angela Dodson, Justice Lamphear, Carson Molaro and Stacy Powell. Also, congrats to Module 4 Honor Roll students: Aaron Daniels-Freeman, Olivia Arges, Michelle Hill, Elisabeth Parker, Brian Powell, Zachariah Claypole White, Max Fried, Lennon Klinger-Mehrbach, Bri Oleson, Joshua Pettway Hinton, Liz Reeder, Megan Rusconi-Warner, Sarah Chetty, Amber Rogers, Ryan Siebens, Kathryn Wilkes, Ian Reid, Michael Berro, Amanda Stevens, Rita Glynn and Jonathan Monroe.
Thank you to everyone for the support of the basketball team fundraiser for new uniforms. Basketball players are reminded that their proceeds and any unsold books must be turned in to Krista by noon tomorrow (Monday). The sale of the coupon books went very well and the team should be sporting their new attire soon! As an additional way to support our team the home game this Wednesday at 4 PM (“home” is Yates Baptist Church gym on Old Chapel Hill Road) will be the focus of our next Spirit Day. (Note - this is a calendar change - Spirit Day was originally scheduled for Monday.) Students are asked to wear the school colors of purple and gold on that day and any 5th-12th student with parent permission will be transported to the game after school. Younger students will require a parent chaperone. Parents are asked to pick up from Yates by 5:30 PM. Please send me an email if you give permission for your 5th-12th grade student to be transported to the game on Wednesday.
Parent Service Opportunity: We are looking for guest speakers for Holidays Around the World the week of December 15-19. This is the perfect opportunity for families who have lived in another part of the world to share their stories. In a 5-10 minute presentation, speakers share their holiday customs, foods and traditions with the student body at Morning Meeting. Contact Wendy for more details.
Have a great week!
Best,
Thelma
