We’ve completed another great week of school Most pretesting is wrapping up and on more than one occasion this week I have heard the teachers talking to each other about the excellent preparation they are finding in returning students who have advanced from one level of the school to the next. Upper School math teacher Annie told me she is thrilled that initial pretest results reveal a very high level of retention in those students who went through Basics Boot camp last year. Middle Grades teacher Michelle stayed late on Friday because she was in the midst of grading pretest results and she was so excited about the results she didn’t want to stop grading! You’ve got to love the dedication of our talented teachers!
Now we are taking all of these pretest results and adjourning to faculty retreat this Thursday and Friday. As you know, school is closed on those two days so that we can discuss each student in the school and fine-tune academic plans as well as scheduling and programmatic issues. Please note that all students came home with a Retreat Feedback Form for parents to complete this weekend. It is important that this form be returned tomorrow so that we can adjust our agenda to reflect issues raised by parents or students. Even if you have no agenda items to give us please return this form, signed, tomorrow so that we know you did see it.
The only students on campus this Thursday and Friday will be those signed up for Optional Care (by advance reservation) and the seniors who will be in class from 8:15 AM until noon on Friday. On Friday we do have a soccer game - HOME. All soccer players are to meet at the Lakewood YMCA at 3:30 PM. If this presents you with any scheduling/transportation issues please notify us immediately!
Monday (tomorrow - September 15) is the deadline for Costa Rica sign up!
