Camelot Update 2/5/12

Greetings!

Congratulations to junior Zachariah Claypole White on winning 2 Gold Keys and one Honorable Mention in the Scholastic Writers Award Competition.  This places his submissions in the top 5% of the 185,000 works of writing and art that were submitted. His poems will now move on for consideration at the national level competition.

Also, kudos to our part time student Chase Lewis who won 1st place in the Junior Chemistry Division of the Piedmont Science Fair for Non-Public Schools.  He will now advance to the Region V Science Fair finals.

Our basketball Knights had another win last week in their game versus Roxboro Christian Academy.  Their season finishes up this week with two home games - one on Wednesday and one on Friday.  Please turn out to support these hard-playing young men in the wonderful job that they do representing our school.

It shouldn't be hard to get everyone to turn out on TUESDAY night for the annual pie supper.  Please note that the event is being held at LYON PARK.  In addition to the fun of sharing everyone's best pie recipe (quiche, pizza, savory or sweet) the Kindergarten, Jr and Sr MAPP students will be presenting their Academic Fair projects.  Middle Grades students are planning to also have some informal work to share and the AP Environmental science class (in keeping with and implementing the theme of sustainability) has made several products ranging from jewelry to home decor using only recycled materials that will be on sale to raise funds for the upcoming semi-formal dance. (Valentine's gifts, anyone??).  Don't miss this enjoyable night out to socialize with other Camelot families and to support our young people in their academic pursuits.

Have you checked out our summer programs on the website?  Wow!  Do we have some special things planned!  In addition to our ever-popular (and quick to fill) Edu-Camp look for our new offerings - Jungle Camp(space will go fast based on the enthusiasm), Musical Theatre Intensive (marking my daughter's return from New York to work with our talented students), an iPad Intensive, a Lego Robotics Camp and - of course - our 2-week adventure bringing a little bit of China to Camelot with our one-of-a-kind Immersion Program.  Please check out our offerings soon - as the camp fair yesterday and the News and Observer summer feature this week will bring us much activity. Also, be sure to note the huge savings for sign-up by March 5.
