Greetings!
Thanks to everyone for the great turnout at Back To School Night. We hope the evening was informative and useful for you and will set you up to get the most out of your family conference next week. Thanks, also, to the parents who ran the book fair, all those who supported the fair and, especially, to Scott Mitchell for orchestrating the entire process.
This promises to be another very busy week.
As you know it is CLUB PREVIEW WEEK!
All clubs, except the two art clubs, will meet this week for students to “check out” offerings without making a long term commitment. Actual sign up is due this Friday (October 2) and then clubs will continue until the Winter Break with a fixed enrollment. Extra sign up forms are available on the office door.
No more paper lunch orders! As we discussed at Back To School Night the online ordering system is going into place. Orders will be taken online for the week of October 12 until midnight on Wednesday, October 7. Be sure to set up your account several days in advance so there is time for it to be approved - deadline for account set up is Monday, October 5th.
Equipment needs....
Before we go out to purchase we wanted to check for any households that had the following items collecting dust and were willing to donate/lend:
-drum stool
-3 microphones
-Small PA system (with 2 speakers, amplifier and mixing board with at least 8 inputs)
-Electric keyboard (touch sensitive with at least 76 keys)
-tambourine
-laptop computer
LOWER SCHOOL STUDENTS who plan to use Optional Care this Friday (October 2) or next week during conferences need to sign up right away. Enrollment on a few days - including this coming Friday afternoon - is low enough that we may have to cancel.
UPPER SCHOOL STUDENTS - study hall times are being set up during conference week (when school is not in session) for students who would like to work with Annie Tally on math or Academic Fair papers. A sign up sheet will go home this week.
The trip to Spain has a sign up deadline of November 1. Ms Celia and/or the tour company (NETC) can answer your questions.

Weekly Update 9/13/09
Greetings!
Congratulations to our Camelot Knights who won their first game on Friday with a score of 2-1 in a game versus Panther FC. What a nice birthday present for Coach Dan!
Thanks to Scott Mitchell and Mike Glynn for their efforts to add historic photos of the Foushee Family (the original owners of our building circa 1916) to our décor. Be sure to check out these glimpses into the past next time you are in the Big Hall.
As you will recall, this is a short week for the students. Here are some reminders:
Monday-
Retreat Feedback forms due back from all families (if you have no feedback please sign and return so we know you saw the form). Also, please don’t email your feedback – it helps with our process if we have a form from everyone (you can print out a response and attach it to the form if you prefer that option to longhand).
Morning Band class begins.
Tuesday-
Lunch order forms sent home for a Wednesday return.
Wednesday –
Soccer game – AWAY
Thursday –
School closed for Faculty Retreat (thanks, in advance, for your support of this important process). Optional Care available by advance reservation – contact Wendy.
Friday –
School closed for Faculty Retreat. Optional Care available by advance reservation – contact Wendy
Soccer game at home. (Reminder – because school is closed for students on Friday, parents should plan to transport to and from the home field.)
Have a great week.
Best,
Thelma

Weekly Update 9/6/09
Greetings and Happy Labor Day weekend!
As I’m sure you are aware, school is closed tomorrow in observance of Labor Day.
Orientation pictures are up on our website - check out the Gallery. Many thanks to Scott Mitchell for making the time to get these photos up quickly at this hectic time of year.
Lunch order forms go home Tuesday for a Wednesday AM return. Remember - you can download a copy of the lunch form from our website. We hope to go “live” with online ordering later this month.
Our soccer team had a great first game - although it wasn’t a win it was a strong start. This week they have two games - on Wednesday at 5 PM at home and on Friday at 4:30 PM away (we are waiting for field location info). Camelot will transport players to both games. Families are expected to provide their own pick up from home games. If your student needs a ride back to Camelot after the Friday away game please respond to this email and we’ll make arrangements.
Music teacher Daniel Raimi is offering private guitar lessons for students ages 6 and up at Camelot. He is also available for lessons in music theory, composition and jazz improv. Lessons will be scheduled for Tuesday and Friday afternoons in the music room. We are truly fortunate to have another such talented and accomplished musician available to work with our students. Learn more about Daniel’s work at his website www.danielraimi.com. (30 minutes lessons @$25/45 minute lessons @$35). To set up lessons contact him at music@camelotacademy.org.
On Friday your student will go home with a Retreat Feedback Form. Please plan to complete this form next weekend and return it on Monday so that your input can be part of our agenda. Specifically, we will be looking for comments or questions about your student’s experience thus far. Thanks, in advance, for making this a priority.
We have our first few cases of the flu reported in our students and faculty. Everyone has been doing a great job of following the protocol we talked through at Parent Orientation and so we hope to minimize the overall impact on our school year.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and we’ll see you on Tuesday.
Best,
Thelma
