Greetings! I hope you are enjoying the wonderful spring weather.

Thank you to the
jazz band for representing our school so well at Artsplosure yesterday. When our fabulous drummer, David Achin, suffered a broken toe and emergency surgery on Friday this group pitched in to see that the show went on - despite a bad break (bad pun intended). Special thanks to teacher Dan Hill for stepping in to make his jazz drumming debut and saving the day - and also for the use of his house and his equipment on Friday night for an impromptu rehearsal. Also, thanks to band director Glenn Mehrbach for his expertise in making everyone feel confident in spite of the changes. Kudos to band members Channing Pascone, Rita Glynn, Edwin Leskin and Camille Leeds - and their families - for pulling together in this tough situation. GREAT JOB!

Here are some important details about the remaining two weeks:

Paperwork due: If you have not returned your graduation RSVP or your summer reading sheet these things are now overdue. Please return tomorrow.

Tuesday - is Honor Roll Day for students who made honor roll in BOTH Modules 10 and 11. Module 11 Honor Roll will be announced tomorrow.

Middle Grades students start exams this week. Upper School students have review days this Wednesday and Thursday.

Friday is Spring Festival and we have things in store to make this extra special for all. Please be sure your student wears the assigned color T-shirt for his/her team AND wears tennis shoes. SCHOOL CLOSES AT NOON THIS FRIDAY.

SCHOOL IS CLOSED NEXT MONDAY, MAY 26, FOR MEMORIAL DAY.

Upper School exams are next Tuesday - Thursday, May 27-29. Students not scheduled for a particular exam should not be in attendance during that exam time but they are responsible for being in school for any portion of the day in which they have commitments (i.e., exam reviews or graduation rehearsals).

Friday, May 30 is graduation rehearsal for all per the instruction sheet you were sent home. Drop off is at the Carolina Theatre and pick up is from Camelot at noon.

Saturday, May 31 is the graduation/awards ceremony at the Carolina Theatre. This is a required school event for all students and at least one parent. Please note that students are to dress up for this event - girls in dress pants, skirts or dresses and boys in dress pants and shirts. No sneakers, T-shirts, shorts or jeans, please.

Have a great week.

Drama Club parents look for a letter coming home with your students tomorrow about their final performance on May 29 and a potluck celebration dinner.

All rising 3rd-12th graders should have received the
Summer Reading List. If you have any questions please be in contact with the appropriate teachers. Emma's mom, Lia, points out that those students assigned to read The Crucible might be excited to know that there is a summer camp in Durham that is focusing on having students perform the work. In addition to the
great pictures of the year found on the Camelot website, parent Simone Degan has a wonderful collection on his website. Check out http://simonedegan.com/album/events/camelot_academy/index.html.

Speaking of thanks to teachers....this week is
Teacher Appreciation Week. If time permits, drop a note to a teacher who means the world to you - such gestures are always deeply appreciated.

Note from Wendy about
trial of new lunch program....
Camelot Academy will be participating in a Test Pilot Lunch Program with Healthelunchkids.com 2 days a week, for two weeks - Tuesdays and Wednesdays only - beginning May 13th.

The two greatest points of the program: 1. Healthier lunches - low in fat and sodium AND 2. families place their orders online and can order up to a month at a time and as late as 48 hrs before the day you want lunch delivered!

For the test program, you will still receive an actual order form to fill out. If we can approve their lunch program and it is well received - then the school will be added to the Health elunch kids program for the fall and parents will place all orders online starting in the fall semester. Please look for the healthelunchkids flyer and order form that will be sent home with the regular lunch order forms on Wednesday. If you need an email version of the order form, just contact Wendy and she can send it to you.

Parent Service help is still needed for the Spring Festival on May 23 (9 AM - noon) and for graduation on May 31 (8 AM-1:30 PM. Please contact Wendy if you are interested in either opportunity.

Have a great week!
